Starting as just a country home and land investment purchase in December of 2002 we settled about
12 miles north of  Athens, GA (Home of the Georgia Bulldogs) in Nicholson. We always knew
that at some point we would get some animals to have around the "farm". After much research, we decided
on meat goats, due to their smaller size and growing market. We joined the Northeast Georgia
Goat Producers Association (NGGPA)
in September of 2003 before we owned any goats.
We were the only members without any goats, but we faithfully attended and gained knowledge and met
new friends. "Goat People" are good people. Our land, originally a cattle farm, needed some updating after
we decided on goats. During the first year of our membership in the NGGPA we worked heavily on our
farm building stalls and stringing electric fencing. In September 2004, we purchased our first two does.
One a 50% boer doe and one 98% boer doe. At first we were hesitant to name them, but friends of the
family began to pressure  us to name what were the red and white ones. Joking, I named them Lunch and
Dinner.

The names stuck and Ramsey Farms was born.
